Marinelli is a former state prosecutor who served four years with the Rhode Island Department of the Attorney General from 2019-2023. During those years, Mr. Marinelli prosecuted thousands of criminal cases in every Rhode Island courthouse. He tried Breathalyzer Refusal cases in the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal, juvenile offenses in Family Court, DUI and other misdemeanor offenses in District Court and felonies in Superior Court. He tried felony assault cases and drive-by shootings and prosecuted cases ranging in severity from disorderly conduct to first- degree murder. Mr. Marinelli has extensive experience arguing motions to suppress and conducting bail and probation violation hearings before Superior Court judges. Additionally, he was chosen to lecture veteran and incoming police officers regarding DUI investigations and important changes to case law that could affect DUI prosecutions. The experience that Mr. Marinelli gained as a former Attorney General is NOT readily available to most criminal defense attorneys. He knows how prosecutors and law enforcement officials work together to build cases against criminal defendants because he was on the other side of the aisle. Due to his unique experience as a former prosecutor, Mr. Marinelli can identify potential weaknesses in the State’s case and achieve the best possible outcome for his private clients.

Additionally, Mr. Marinelli practices Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation law.
